Microneedling

Microneedling is a nonsurgical skin rejuvenation treatment. It works by using a medical device that creates many tiny holes in the skin. Our skin responds to this by creating more collagen and will allow absorption of a serum that induces collagen production.

Microneedling Benefits

Microneedling improves collagen production and the growth of new, healthy skin cells. This makes it an effective treatment option for a range of skin concerns. The treatment is typically used for the face but can be applied to other areas. Microneedling can be used to improve:

  • Skin acne and break outs

  • Acne scars or other types of scarring

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Age spots or sun spots

  • Enlarged pores

  • Poor skin elasticity

  • Uneven skin tone

  • under eye darkness and puffiness

  • regenerates hair on head with serum

Candidates for Microneedling

A majority of patients are good candidates for microneedling regardless of skin type or tone. However, those with certain health concerns may not be suited to the procedure. Patients who have psoriasis, eczema or a history of bleeding or poor scarring may not be good candidates for microneedling. The procedure is also not recommended during pregnancy.

The Microneedling Procedure

Prior to microneedling, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed, and a topical numbing solution will be applied. A small handheld device will then be used to create micro-injuries in the skin. This process typically takes no longer than 20 minutes to complete. Following microneedling, your provider may apply topical apple stem cell serum during your treatment to calm the skin or enhance the results of your treatment.  It is recommended to have a treatment every 4-6 weeks for at least 4 times to see results.

After Microneedling

Microneedling does not require downtime, though a brief healing period will take place after the procedure. Common side effects include redness, swelling, bruising and sensitivity. These side effects typically subside after about one to six days. As your skin heals, it is important to avoid direct sun exposure and wear SPF as directed. Make up may be used the next day.
